This is a story about and by Michael N. Cocchi, MD, a fellow in Critical Care Medicine in our Department of Emergency Medicine. He joined a group of doctors and nurses recently in a medical relief mission to Haiti. It was his first time on such a mission. When I heard some of his stories, I asked if he would be willing to share them with us.
The photo of his patient Yvonne and the circumstances surrounding it are described in the video.

Thank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt, humanitarian story. Dr. Cocchi, his colleagues and all the other physicians, nurses and health professionals who went to Haiti make us very proud of our medical system and wonderful care it provides.
Dr. Cocchi seems like an extra ordinary individual.
On another note, I'm wondering if you could comment on this ( http://healthcarereform.nejm.org/?p=2836 ) article from Dr. James and others.
Thanks!
Michael, Craig & I just watched your video. What an amzaing experience!! The story about Yvonne and how you and your team tried so hard to get her to a hospital that could help her. The whole experience must have been so unbelievable. Michael, you would be so wonderful with these patients! Thanks for sharing this heartfelt story.
Sally and Craig
