First (Class) Aid

Here's a picture of some of the BIDMC first aid team at Fenway Park last night, where they were recognized by the Red Sox in a pre-game ceremony for their great service to the patrons at the games. Nurse Cyndi Casey represented the group by throwing out the first pitch -- reportedly a strike over the inside corner.

  1. I would liike to think the presence of the BI group helpped the baseball mojo to lead to the divison title.

  2. So disappointed that you, an incredible soccer fan and coach of girls no less, has written not one word on the women's world cup tournament....you have many (well at least one...) loyal readers who care not one whit about the Red Sox (now there is one cause of horrific traffic in the Longwood area...) but share your love of the beautiful game....

  3. Anon 4:01,

My writing is not close to good enough to comment on the Women's World Cup! It just has to be seen.

    Daniel,

    For sure!

  4. Somehow this year I've become a crazier Sox fan than ever before, watching 10 times more games than ever before. Today, having a friend who's a serious Mets fan, I was supplementing my NESN Sox viewing by having three separate MLB.com Gameday windows open on my computer, to keep tabs play by play on the Mets, Phillies and Padres games.

So yeah, I've become a total baseball geek. Not as much as when I was 12 and could recite ALL the stats for my then-home team, but let's see who the REAL Sox fans are: During every game (at least every one at Fenway) NESN tv announcer RemDawg tells listeners where to find the BIDMC first aid booth - do you know where it is?

  5. p.s This new Sox-watching addiction may have started when some executive from BIDMC happened into my room in April and said "You gonna watch the Sox? It's opening day. Channel 26" [on the hospital TV system].

Then they put chemicals into me via one o' them Central Lines. Hm! Connection??

Hey! Does this count as an iatrogenic affliction?? You guys gonna keep statistics on THAT?

  6. Golly, Dave. You just raised our affliction (er, infection) rate! Do I have to post that on the BIDMC website???
