Mt. Auburn + BCBS = Excellence

Check out this excellent video describing efforts at Mt. Auburn Hospital, in cooperation with Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA, to set -- and reach -- very high standards for quality and safety in patient care. This is a model of an effective and important partnership between two segments of the health care industry.

  1. Been reading the blog for a while, first post though. I couldn't help but watch the video a few times, its an interesting one. I've visited a few hospitals in Boston lately, and I've really been disappointed with the quality of care (never visited Beth Israel though!). It's an optimistic idea and I hope they continue to deliver on this promise, it's a good one.

  3. Thanks for the link, Paul. As you know, five organizations, including Mt. Auburn and BIDMC, are working with us and each other to set audacious goals for quality improvement. Great work is happening at Atrius, Cooley Dickenson, and New England Baptist as well. Thanks to bold leadership and a commitment to enlisting every member of the organization, these five organizations are improving the quality of health care.

  4. I too watched the video a few times. I visit various Boston area hospitals regularly as a service provider. Overall, Boston healthcare is of good quality. We strive and struggle at times to help change poor processes in order to improve the delivery of safe and efficient care. Videos like this are empowering. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Dear Liz H,

I have not posted your comment here. The issues you raise are best addressed with people at the hospital you mentioned.

  6. Paul, Your decision to censor the responses to your blog is, in itself ,very telling. The issues have been raised with "the hospital I mentioned" . The results are......inactivity, wasted time and most of all uncorrected human error. Liz H

  7. Liz,

This is not the forum to raise complaints about another hospital.
