First crops at Bowdoin Street

A few weeks ago, I wrote about our staff members helping to organize a farmers' market in the neighborhood of our Bowdoin Street Health Center. Now, the first crops have been harvested by the Healthy Champions at the Center. Check out the video below.

  1. What great kids! That young man who dressed up like an ear of corn has a lot of pluck. I see the stage or politics in his future!

This neighborhood needed something beautiful and positive to happen to it. Many thanks to whoever had this idea and persevered to bring it to fruit (and vegetables)

  2. As an enthusiastic gardener, I say kudos to the organizers of this initiative. While supervising a volunteer harvest for the needy in my area recently, I ran across an adult who had never seen a corn plant and had no idea where to find the ear to harvest it. We are becoming incredibly divorced from our natural environment; what a great idea to teach the kids(and adults!)
