I've passed two milestones that I never could have imagined in August, when I started this blog.
First, I have now filed over 200 posts. Not bad for the first nine months of gestation.
Second, I have now had visitors from 100 Massachusetts cities and towns -- not to mention almost as many countries and virtually all states in the USA. (Will someone from South Dakota ever show up?)
The first statistic says something about narcissism. The second is more interesting in that it says something about people's interest in this topic.
Many thanks to all of you for your support, really great comments, thoughtful questions, and enthusiasm.
Congratulations! Great blog, courageous and cutting edge and you deserve the interest and readership. Keep pushing the envelope, Paul.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Two hundred posts in nine months? Sounds like almost enough to give birth to a book. As your many contributors have said in different ways, it's a great blog. I quarrel with only one line in your post: "interest in this topic." I remember pictures of furry animals in Madagascar, a struggle with Crackberries, the Red Sox (or was it the Yankees--they're the same, right?)...but a topic? Hmmmmm....
ReplyDeleteI just want to say how much I respect you and find you a role model.
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope my Professor finds your blog as a credible source, as I wrote my last paper about you and your cutting edge information systems.
Thanks for my making my last paper before graduating an enjoyable one!
You rock Mr. Levy!
Blog on, Paul. I liked you when you were running the MWRA...enjoyed our evening with Mike Connor et al at the Playhouse restaurant.
ReplyDeleteWhat is best about this blog is that it is an exercise in truly free expression...the product of a large mind which you allow to roam freely around the universe. Attracting as you clearly do both the polite and the bright certainly helps. Most of all I find the wide range of minds and spirits visiting this site most refreshing. Please do accry on.
Ditto all of the above. I tell everyone this is my favorite blog - and refer the link as often as possible. There is clearly a bright and curious mind at work; one never knows what the next post will bring!
ReplyDeleteI'm putting up my tent in the same campground as all the rest of those above, especially Pesha. You've got a lot to be proud of here, Paul, with a blog that by age is just getting around to crawling (hey, wasn't there a post to this effect some months ago?). Your readers could make a very long list of why this works but, call me a contrarian, I don't think the main reason is "the topic." Obsessed as I am with central line infections, stats, and even my own health, I think this blog works for the same reasons most writers hook people: They reveal enough of themselves so readers can identify with a real person, and, regardless of what they're writing about, they throw out line into new water, causing us to say, oh, I never thought of that. Next step? Merge this with a wiki (a bliki???) and then all the rest of us can really carry on. Meanwhile, keep hittin' all the right notes and thanks.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog this afternoon. I work in finance at a hospital in New York City, and I will certainly be visiting often. It's great to see this niche filled by someone with such in depth knowledge of the field.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that I stumbled upon your blog about a month ago and have found it quite fascinating reading even though I am not in the medical field and do not work for a hospital.
