Voices of Slaves
A friend forwarded this link from PBS to me. She notes: If you haven't seen this, it's worth exploring. It's the WPA recordings of former slaves. Beautiful and heartbreaking and uplifting.
Paul, I hope you saw the exhibit at the MFA about two years ago of the Gee's Bend Quilts, and had an opportunity to meet the quilters. Gee's Bend was one of the communities visited by the WPA, and the beauty of the quilts sewn there is nothing short of a miracle of creativity. http://www.quiltsofgeesbend.com/quilts/index_quilts_exhibitions.shtml
