Medicine and Football

Watch this heartwarming story from the BBC.  Back in March, a brilliant young footballer had a heart seizure on the pitch and one of the country's leading cardiac surgeons happened to be in the crowd AND the security guards were smart enough to let him on the pitch to direct emergency treatment.  And that's just the beginning of the story!  (BTW, an NHS triumph!)

It was truly a miracle. We were watching live on TV.I couldn't believe he survived.70 mins of CPR.I guess his time hadn't come.More importantly it has strengthened screening of young athletes for cardiac issues in the UK.It seems African/Americans and west Africans have a gene that can predispose to sudden heart abnormal rhythms. Fabrice is not the first. We have lost several before him who were not so lucky.
