Magic and fan loyalty

As we go through the baseball post-season, I want to collect some stories about fan loyalty and serendipity. For example, here is one from a friend about losing (and finding) her Red Sox hat in the Alaskan Tundra. If you have other examples of unusual or inexplicable rewards for fan loyalty, please post them. (Note: This is not limited to Red Sox Nation.)

Well lets see, I keep wondering if the Sox winning the world series in 2004 had anything to do with my having one of the worst years of my life.

I thought it was a fluke until my second bout with cancer last year. Except they went all the way again and I went back into surgery in December.

Since cancer has popped up again in another part of my body, I guess they could win it all again this year.

Or I could finally be cured, and then all our sports team will be as bad as they were when I was a kid.

Which, if that is the trade off, I'll be willing to put up with.

The Red Sox and Yankees play a Grapefruit League contest on March 17 in Tampa. You can be sure Steinbrenner will not have his Red Sox Nation card in his wallet that day.
