This is a blog by a former CEO of a large Boston hospital to share thoughts about negotiation theory and practice, leadership training and mentoring, and teaching.
Colorful, but sad.
Paul...this is really scary!
That's a really really sharp delta. /me decides to go walking at lunch.
I love the fact that the obesity post is right above a photo of a honking ice cream sundae! Makes me feel hungry and completely guilty all at once! :)
Shocking data, to say the least. As an MBA/MHA student and (hopefully) future hospital administrator, I would be interested to see a post regarding BIDMC's efforts towards health & wellness promotion.
Yikes. I'm thinking more and more about the raw food movement and vegetarianism...
The even sadder part is that these are under-estimates of true obesity prevalence. Check out:http://jrsm.rsmjournals.com/cgi/content/abstract/99/5/250The PDF should be free, but the bottom line is that because of systematic under-estimation of height and weight, BMI from self-report in BRFSS is too low.Ari
An even more frightening version (because it includes 5 additional recent years) is at http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/trend/maps/index.htm
