In a February 11, 1962, episode of Car 54, Where are You?, entitled "Toody and the Art World", the visual joke centers on a modern art painting that is styled "Lower Manhattan At Sunset From The New Jersey Side."
I don't remember the painting exactly, but this recent shot of Boston at night as I was flying into Logan Airport reminds me somehow of it.
